One year on from the collapse of hamper company Farepak, Alan Beith MP is backing a House of commons motion calling for compensation for those who are still waiting for financial help, along with new legislation to ensure a similar collapse cannot happen in the future.
Alan Beith said
"Many families throughout the Berwick constituency had a miserable Christmas in 2006 after the collapse of Farepak. They have not received any compensation, and many are still struggling to pay off debt taken on in the immediate aftermath of the crisis.
"I believe that the customers who had paid in to the company in good faith are entitled to justice and that those responsible for the company's failure should be held to account.
"The Government needs to publish its report into what went wrong at Farepak and bring in legislation to protect customers who pay in money to build up credit."
