Beith: offshore wind just part of renewables solution

Alan Beith MP has spoken out following Energy Secretary John Hutton's announcement of proposals to open up the seas off the UK's coastline to up to 33GW (gigawatts) of offshore wind energy.

Alan Beith said

"This announcement on off-shore wind development is promising and is a potentially very important part of our sourcing of renewable energy.

"I do feel, however, that the Government is putting all its emphasis on wind power, when we also need to be looking closely at the potential of using tidal and wave power to generate electricity."
