Beith welcomes Clegg as new leader of Liberal Democrats

Commenting shortly after the announcement that Nick Clegg has been elected as the new leader of the Liberal Democrats, Berwick-upon-Tweed's MP Alan Beith said:

"Nick Clegg will be an outstanding leader of the Liberal Democrats who will reach out to the many people who share liberal values but who feel excluded from politics, and the last few weeks have shown the considerable talents among Liberal Democrat MPs including Nick himself, Chris Huhne and Vince Cable."

The result was:

Nick Clegg 20,988 votes

Chris Huhne 20,477 votes
