Berwick's Lib Dem MP Alan Beith has today secured a commitment from Northumberland County Council to maintain the 411 bus service through Howick village.
Alan has been putting pressure on the County Council and bus service operators, working with local councillor Carol Grey, to ensure that residents from Howick did not lose this essential service.
Alan Beith said
"This is excellent news and I am glad that the people of Howick will be able to rely on the bus service once more. The county Council have taken up my suggestion and organised a service operator to continue to meet the needs of the people of Howick."
Cllr Grey added
"I am very pleased that we can reassure residents that the bus service will still be there for them."
Northbound buses will leave Alnwick at 1015 and 1330, calling at Howick at 1026 and 1351, Monday to Saturday. The service will travel on to Embleton, Beadnell, Seahouses, North Sunderland and Bamburgh. The 1026 service will continue on to Berwick, arriving at Golden Square at 11367 and the Railway Station at 1142.
Travelling south, buses will leave Howick at 0938 and 1301, arriving into Alnwick Bus Station at 0959 and 1322.
The route will be covered by Travelsure buses rather than Arriva.
