End of nostalgia as we look forward to next election, says Beith

Torchlit steps of Berwick Guildhall

Flaming torches line the steps of Berwick Guildhall to welcome Sir Alan and Lady Diana Beith.

Over 60 people old and young enjoyed supper at the Guildhall in Berwick after a dramatic display of flaming torches last Saturday. Sir Alan and Lady Diana Beith were welcomed by guests from throughout the Berwick upon Tweed constituency and further afield, including Cllr Isabel Hunter, Leader of Berwick Borough Council, Cllr Ian Hinson, Leader of Alnwick District Council, Fiona Hall MEP and Jeremy Purvis MSP.

The torch-lit supper was the last of a series of events to remember the by-election victory of 1973.

Alan Beith said

"This has been a wonderful evening with friends and we have had fun remembering the by-election win in 1973. This year we have also had a Ball at the Alnwick Garden and our Annual Dinner where Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, was guest speaker.

"Now we need to look forward. I will continue to work tirelessly for the Berwick upon Tweed constituency and am looking forward to fighting the next General Election here."

If you would like to get more involved with the local Liberal Democrats please call the Constituency Office on 01665 602901 to find out how you can help support Alan Beith, Fiona Hall MEP and the hardworking team of councillors and activists.

If you are a resident of the Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
