200 Amble jobs saved - MP welcomes good news

Following the announcement that business will continue at an Amble food processing factory, Sir Alan Beith MP said

"I was involved in discussions in support of the business with One North East very soon after Cheviot Foods went into administration and I am very pleased indeed that the business is set to continue as Northumberland Foods Limited. This is good news for Amble and for the wider area as around 200 jobs have been saved."

Cheviot Foods Limited called in the administrators in the autumn and negotiations have continued to sell the business as a going concern. There were fears that the business would closed but now it is hoped that the new company will go from strength to strength. With 200 jobs at stake, the news that the factory will remain open is good news for Amble and the surrounding area.
