Sir Alan Beith is embarking on his Annual Surgery Tour this week which will see him travel over 1,000 miles, visiting over 100 villages and hamlets across the Berwick-upon-Tweed Constituency. Sir Alan meets hundreds of people every year when he visits their rural and sometimes remote villages to ensure that every constituent gets a chance to speak to him in person.
Sir Alan said:
"When you represent such a big, rural constituency it is very difficult to find out about specific issues in specific areas, that is why my Annual Tour is so important. It gives me a chance to visit areas where I do not hold a surgery during the year, and speak to local residents about issues affecting them in their local area.
"These village surgeries are a vital part of keeping in touch with local people."
