Fiona Hall is backing the 2degrees Campaign in advance of the Copenhagen meeting on climate change.

Lib Dem Euro-MP Fiona Hall has signed up to the 2degrees petition set up to increase public pressure on China and the U.S. to agree to a climate deal in Copenhagen that limits a future rise in temperatures to a maximum of 2 degrees Celsius.

Said Fiona:

"I have signed up to the 2degrees petition because public pressure is an important ingredient in the climate negotiations in Copenhagen. Climate change doesn't stop at borders and the international negotiators need to realize that people all over the world want action now. Now is the time for anyone concerned about global warming to speak up and join those various initiatives trying to put pressure on politicians in Copenhagen.

"Many people and organisations here in the North East have been in touch with me to raise their concerns about climate change and to stress the importance of a good international climate deal in December.

"I will be at the Copenhagen climate summit as an observer and I will make sure that our negotiators know how much public support and pressure there is for an ambitious and wide- ranging deal."

The 2degrees petition will be handed over to representatives of the US and Chinese governments ahead of the climate conference in Copenhagen in December.
