Beith welcomes review of hospital parking charges

Berwick's Liberal Democrat MP Sir Alan Beith has welcomed the announcement that the Government is to review car parking charges at hospitals.

Sir Alan said

"Car parking charges are a serious burden on people who are visiting relatives regularly and frequently in hospital at a time when they are often very distressed and anything that can be done to reduce that burden would be welcome."

At present, parking charges are fixed by NHS Trusts and vary widely across the country. The issue of parking is one which constituents have raised often with MP Sir Alan, particularly if they need to attend hospital regularly.
