Sir Alan Beith has promised to keep up the pressure for the funding for replacement school buildings for Alnwick after the County Council's bid for exceptional funding has been put on hold by senior civil servants.
Sir Alan said
"Although it is frustrating not to be making faster progress, which I suspect is because civil servants are nervous of making financial commitments in the run up to an election, there is at last a real understanding that the Duchess's Community High School needs to be replaced. I will be banging on the door of whoever is the Schools Minister straight after the election."
