Rail users will have the chance to tell Sir Alan Beith MP about their experience of the services from Alnmouth when he joins the Alnmouth Rail Users Group meeting which is being held on Thursday evening at Barter Books in Alnwick.
Before the general election, Sir Alan used the results of his Rail Users' Survey to campaign for better services from Alnmouth and Berwick stations with Ministers and rail company bosses, and he is now making the case with Ministers from the new Government.
Sir Alan said
"I have already written to the new Minister about the ongoing timetabling issues. One of the main problems with the proposed timetable was the removal of the 1330 from Kings Cross to Alnmouth which left a big gap in the timetable in the middle of the day. Before the election I was told that this would be dealt with by a lunchtime train from Kings Cross to Newcastle and the ongoing service to Alnmouth, currently the 1632 from Newcastle to Alnmouth, being provided by Cross Country, but I want to make sure that this is being put in place.
