The new Tweedmouth NHS dentists are already helping people in the Berwick area. Another dental practice will do the same for Alnwick and the surrounding villages.
Sir Alan Beith's long campaign for more NHS dentists in the Alnwick area has been successful as additional services are to be available from the autumn.
Sir Alan has been told by Northumberland Care Trust that negotiations are almost complete on a deal to bring a new NHS practice to Alnwick which will have the equivalent of 2.5 full time dentists and will offer the full range of dental services.
Sir Alan said
"I understand that the details are still being finalised on premises for the new practice but I am delighted that senior health bosses have listened to the concerns of people who have had difficulty finding an NHS dentist and have taken positive action to make sure local people can access the services then need."
There are currently spaces for new NHS patients at the Butterworths dental practice on Bondgate Without, Alnwick.
Thanks to Sir Alan's pressure on health service managers, an additional NHS practice has already opened in Tweedmouth, serving people in the Berwick area.
