Alan Beith MP has pledged to fight on for the dualling of the A1 between Morpeth and Felton, and north of Alnwick, after the scheme was not included in a list of priority schemes for the region from the north east's Interim Transport Board.
Alan's constituency of Berwick-upon-Tweed includes about 45 miles of the A1, from Tritlington to the Scottish Border.
Alan says
"The A1 needs to be dualled. Deaths and injuries are still occurring on this unsafe road. The decision to upgrade the stretch between Morpeth and Felton has already been taken and any delay to that work would be a disgrace in light of safety concerns, as well as stifling for the economic development of Northumberland."
